Module 3 Critical Thinking Assignment-1

Module 3 Critical Thinking Assignment-1

Q Module 3Critical Thinking Assignment Suicide Concern/Welfare Check As you enter into or continue working within the field of psychology and other helping fields (e.g. Social Work, Teaching, etc.) you might find yourself having to respond to an individual who is presenting with concerns about harming themselves or possibly someone else. Often when we encounter these situations, we might not know what to do or how to respond. This assignment is to assist in preparing you and your classmates on how to respond if you encounter one of those difficult situations. You will be expected to select a work or occupational setting that you might be interested in working in and research the steps that you would either be mandated to (or should) follow if you were to report suicidal/homicidal ideation, a suicide/homicide attempt, or request a welfare check due to substantiated concern. After collecting the required information, you will create a quick (2-3 minute) how-to video explaining the step-by-step process. You may attach any forms or helpful handouts that you may find in the process. If you cannot make the video, please submit the script of the video you would have made with all of the information required. Refer to this video for additional information on what a Police Welfare Check is. Instructions: You will be expected to select a state, administration, governing body, and worksite or role (example “Oregon, Providence Hospital, American Psychology Association, Hospital Nurse”) and then research in reporting process involved if you were to report suicidal/homicidal ideation, a suicide/homicide attempt, or request a welfare check due to substantiated concern. After collecting the information, create a 2-3 minute how-to video explaining the step-by-step reporting process. Any script submissions should be 1-3 pages in length and conform to APA guidelines in the CSU Global Writing Center (Links to an external site.). Make sure to cite any included sources according to the APA guidelines. The CSU Global Library is a good place to find these references.
